The New
England Chapter of the
Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, Inc. (AAHGS-NE) was
formed in 1997 as a
non-profit organization to promote genealogical research of
African-American
heritage at all levels, beginner to professional. It is affiliated with
the
national organization of the same name, headquartered in Washington,
D.C.
To
join
AAHGS-NE, you must also join the national organization, AAHGS
Inc.
Members
receive the quarerly AAHGS-NE Newsletter, the semi-annual
(spring and fall) Journal of the Afro-American Historical and
Genealogical Society and AAHGS News, the bi-monthly newsletter of the
national organization.
Member
benefits also include monthly lectures,
genalogical workshops, genealogical tips, a lending library,
access to others doing genealogical research and a reduced fee at the
annual AAHGS National Conference.
